Doberer and Mathews Tax Service was originally founded in 1968 as Prudence Mathews Tax Services when Prudence Mathews opened her own tax and accounting practice in Front Royal, Virginia. From the beginning, the firm was built on a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and personal service.

Prudence Mathews successfully operated the business until the age of 81, at which time she entrusted the firm to her granddaughter, Erica Doberer. In 2018, the business was renamed Doberer & Mathews LLC, honoring its family legacy while continuing its tradition of dependable, client-focused service.
